Our client is seeking a freelance WordPress developer for a one-time website project, with the potential for ongoing work if the collaboration proves successful. This project involves transitioning from a custom-coded WordPress site to a more user-friendly page builder, allowing the internal team to manage and update the site more efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Audit the existing custom WordPress setup.
- Recommend a streamlined approach using a page builder (e.g., Elementor, WPBakery, Gutenberg).
- Rebuild or migrate existing pages into a builder-based format.
- Reduce reliance on custom code where possible.
- Ensure the site remains functional and SEO-friendly during the transition.
- Provide light documentation or guidance for the internal team to manage the site post-project.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong experience with WordPress development, both custom and builder-based.
- Familiarity with popular page builders such as Elementor and Gutenberg.
- Ability to work with and clean up an existing custom codebase.
- Experience improving usability for non-technical teams.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions in plain language.
- Bonus: Experience with performance optimization and SEO best practices.
Experience: 5-8 years in WordPress development or related fields.
