About this role
Our client is seeking a skilled Web GIS Developer with a strong background in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to join their team on a remote basis. This role is a contract position for 6 months, with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain web-based GIS applications and services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
- Implement spatial data processing workflows and optimize geospatial queries.
- Ensure adherence to software engineering principles and best practices.
- Work with various geospatial data formats and integrate them into applications.
- Stay updated with the latest GIS technologies and trends.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, GIS, Geomatics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 5–8 years of professional software development experience.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, object-oriented design, and modern web development practices.
- In-depth knowledge of GIS principles, spatial data models, and geodesy concepts.
- Experience with vector, raster, and tiled geospatial datasets.
- Familiarity with OGC standards and geospatial web services.
