About this role
Our client is seeking a Backend Tech Lead who will own the design, delivery, and long-term health of scalable, distributed backend systems. This role requires a hands-on technical leader who will also manage and grow the engineers responsible for building these systems. You will set the technical direction, drive delivery across multiple squads, and actively mentor and unblock your team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of backend systems ensuring scalability and reliability.
- Manage a team of engineers, providing mentorship and support to foster their professional growth.
- Drive technical direction and decision-making within the team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and production incident management.
- Continuously evaluate and improve processes to enhance team performance and product quality.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in backend development with technologies such as Java, Python, or Node.js.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture.
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
Experience: 5-8 years in backend development and team leadership roles.
