About this role

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Associate Software Engineer to develop spacecraft flight software. This fully remote position is open to candidates across the United States, with preferred locations including Arlington VA, Denver CO, Houston TX, or Merritt Island FL. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional programming skills and creativity, playing a crucial role in the development of satellite flight software.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the full lifecycle of flight software development, from requirements definition through operations.
  • Upgrade existing flight software for new missions and develop new satellite flight software for various platforms.
  • Create in-house tools to analyze flight software performance and ensure compatibility with new missions.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to support installation onto hardware-in-the-loop test environments and flight hardware.
  • Participate in anomaly resolution activities and patch existing flight software.
  • Assist in the development of the spacecraft product roadmap, including design adjustments and schedule targets.
  • Support working groups, proposal writing, and assess software impacts of new hardware and missions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technical, Engineering, Math) or related scientific areas.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
  • Knowledge of embedded software development, device driver development, and real-time operating systems programming is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Insatiable curiosity and a demonstrated ability to learn and work independently.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 0 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience in software integration and testing in high-reliability systems is highly desirable.
